Johnny Wactor was tragically shot and killed during a car theft – even though he didn’t try to intervene in the incident.

The General Hospital star, who played Brando Corbin, died at the age of 37 in downtown Los Angeles, his devastated mother revealed. She explained that Johnny and a friend witnessed three men allegedly trying to steal his catalytic converter. Although Johnny did not attempt to intervene with the alleged thieves, they shot him before fleeing the scene.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 3am local time. Sadly, Johnny was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The police have yet to release a description of the suspects.

In a heartfelt tribute to her son, Scarlett described him as a “loving young man.” She expressed that his death has left a “huge hole in the family’s heart.”

Johnny’s acting career took off in 2007 with a role on the popular Lifetime show Army Wives. He continued to work on shows including NCIS, Westworld, The OA and Criminal Minds. His role in General Hospital became a fan favorite before the character was axed from the show with a sudden death.

Before he passed, Johnny admitted that he was overwhelmed by the support he felt from the soap opera fans following his departure. The star also hinted that he may want to return to Port Charles in the future.

He said during an Instagram Reel: “It’s been a couple days since the demise of Brando Corbin in Port Charles as we know it. I have to tell ya, I have been so blown away by the reaction from the fans. I had no idea that you guys cared so much about my character.”

He added: “I’m so blessed, and I’m gonna miss you guys. Thank you so much for letting me bring Brando Corbin to life. Thank you for caring, and thank you for the support and the well wishes for my future endeavors, whether that’s back in Port Charles at some point, or other films or shows.”

The actor’s untimely death comes just three months shy of his 38th birthday. Johnny leaves behind his mother and his younger brothers – Lance and Grant.
