Flavor Flav Claims NBC Booted Him From Celebrity Dressing Room During Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting

Flavor Flav has been one of 2024’s heroes because of what he did for the United States women’s Olympic water polo team — not to mention Red Lobster. However, he claims to have been treated otherwise by NBC after they allegedly ejected him from a celebrity dressing room during the annual Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting in NYC.

The Public Enemy rapper was looking to meet up with the Backstreet Boys, one of the celebrity guests at the annual spectacle alongside host Kelly Clarkson. He claims security approached him while in the dressing room, and escorted him out of the building.

“I feel weird,” he wrote in a now-deleted post on X. “I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and I was escorted to see my boys… THE BACKSTREET BOYS… and we were backstage in their dressing room… security came up to me and said: @nbc Does not want me in this area and I need to leave.” It was a confusing experience for the Flavor Of Love star because some other NBC employees seemingly wanted him there.

“At the same time… their social media woman came up and asked to capture social content,” Flavor Flav wrote. “What did I ever do to NBC or anyone?? all I ever do is try to spread joy and love… and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.” After deleting the post, he followed up with a second shorter message: “I deleted the tweet… but my spirit is broken.” Neither NBC nor the Backstreet Boys commented on the story.

Flav did not blame the Backstreet Boys, clarifying that they spoke up on his behalf to security. Nonetheless, he shared a video of him watching the tree lighting from the crowd and seemed in good spirits. It’s hard not to be when Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Hudson, and Coco Jones all sang classic Christmas tunes.

The Hip-Hop legend arguably started the season of giving early this year. In July, he signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the U.S. women’s water polo team to serve as their hype man after members of the team cited a lack of funding and support. He also expressed his desire to be a torchbearer for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. In June, he purchased the entire menu at Red Lobster after the long-running restaurant announced they were filing for bankruptcy. He was honored with his meal, Flavor Flav’s Faves, in July due to his charitable efforts helping keep the establishment running.
