50 Cent Explains Why He Feels JAY-Z Tried To Block Him From Super Bowl
|50 Cent has a theory as to why JAY-Z and Roc Nation allegedly attempted to block him from the Super Bowl. Fiddy hopped on Cam’ron’s interview series, Talk With Flee (which is a big deal in itself) to discuss 50’s recent business ventures.
After breaking down how his Las Vegas residency came to be, Cam took the conversation to Super Bowl LVI, where 50 was a guest during Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show. Cam wondered why Fif came out and said Hov tried to block him from hitting the stage, to which the Queens rapper elaborated.
“This is why I was saying I knew what ol’ boy was doing with the Super Bowl,” he said, referencing Hov. “He was doing some wild sh*t, Cam, because he was saying to Em and them that the NFL had the issue with me. And I’m like, ‘Well, what’s the issue? Why don’t they have an issue when I’m becoming a partner with the actual teams? But they have an issue with my performance. It makes no sense.’”
Killah then pressed the idea that maybe Hov felt “threatened” by his and 50’s ongoing rivalry. Jackson stated that Hip-Hop culture is inherently “competitive” and that it does come with the territory. However, as both he and Jay are no longer vying for the No. 1 spot on the charts, that competitive edge from Hip-Hop should be non-existent.
“Not even threatened,” the businessman responded. “Our culture’s competitive, but I think when it goes past the music itself to blocking things in business, then I don’t understand that…Right now, he’s not even competing for a slot. He doesn’t have a new song out that he wants to be top 10 and he’s still competing—It don’t make sense. What are we competing for? What’s the goal?”
