JAY-Z’s Lawyer Files Motion For Alleged Rape Victim To Reveal Her Identity
|JAY-Z has become the first major celebrity named in connection to Diddy’s current legal woes, as the Brooklyn rapper was recently added to a lawsuit aimed at the Bad Boy founder under accusations of raping a 13-year-old girl together back in 2000.
Following his official response to the accusations via a statement from Roc Nation, Hov’s attorneys have filed a motion asking the Jane Doe in question to reveal her identity, or have the case dismissed.
“Mr. Carter should not have to defend himself in the brightest of spotlights against an accuser who hides in complete darkness while leveling allegations that describe the purported acts occurring in the plain sight of witnesses who could refute the plaintiff’s claims if only her identity was revealed,” the filing submitted Monday (Dec. 9) reads, according to CNN.
The Jane Doe alleges that she was sexually assaulted at 13 by both JAY-Z, né Shawn Carter, and Diddy, né Sean Combs, at an after party following the Video Music Awards in 2000. She claims she became woozy after consuming a drink at the party and wandered off into a bedroom. Both men and an unidentified female celebrity then entered the room where, according to the suit, she was first raped by Carter as Combs and the woman watched, and was then sexually assaulted by Combs.
Hov asserted within his Roc Nation statement that the allegations are, “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
The 4:44 artist also called attorney Tony Buzbee who is behind the lawsuit — as well as over 120 cases filed against Combs — an “ambulance chaser in a cheap suit” who is attempting to extort him.
Buzbee has since replied via a statement on Twitter/X: “Regarding the Jay Z case and his efforts to silence my clients: Mr. Carter previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm. He filed his frivolous case under a pseudonym,” he typed. “What he fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim and that victim never demanded a penny from him. Instead, she only sought a confidential mediation.
“Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve. As far as the allegations in the complaint filed, we will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media.”
