Soulja Boy Addresses JAY-Z Lawsuit, Says Celebrities Are “Targets”

Soulja Boy reacted to the JAY-Z lawsuit and asserted that celebrities are “targets.” After Tony Buzbee refiled his October lawsuit, the 34-year-old entertainer went live on Instagram to get his sh*t off. Soulja ranted about what he sees as a concerted effort to tarnish the legacies and public opinion of those with celebrity status. He asserted that he’s willing to “stand on business” and that he won’t allow them to tear him down, especially “in this rap industry.”

“When you in this industry, bro, you gotta stand on business, they ‘gon lie on your name, ni**a,” Soulja Boy said. “They going to try to take you down, ni**a. They don’t want to see us winning. They don’t want to see us having this money, ni**a. When you in this rap industry, ni**a… When you’re a celebrity, you’re a target, ni**a.”

Soulja wasn’t the only one who didn’t believe the JAY-Z lawsuit. Meek Mill took to X/Twitter hours after the legal documents hit the internet on Sunday (Dec. 9) to vent about a “false narrative.”

“The goal is to start false narrative to create a matrix web,” he wrote in the post. “If you can control the storyline you can control the matrix….American media is totally unbelievable! I see ‘JAY-Z’ ____ a 13-year-old girl, 300 times scrolling. It’s called programming,” he typed. “The rap up smear.”

Attorney Tony Buzbee refiled the lawsuit over the weekend, adding Hov’s name to the listing. Shawn Carter’s name was previously omitted from the lawsuit and was only named as a John Doe.

Roc Nation filed its own lawsuit against Buzbee in retaliation in November, accusing the Houston-based attorney of “extortion.” But, with the refiling, Carter issued a personal public statement to Buzbee, calling him out once again for “blackmail.”

The Brooklyn native’s statement showed love to the “true victims in the world,” labeling Tony Buzbee’s filing nothing more than “an ambulance chaser in a cheap suit.” Carter then firmly drew a line in the sand, asserting that he “protects children” while Buzbee only “exploits people for personal gain.”

Shawn Carter concluded his statement by vowing to show Buzbee that he isn’t like “other celebrities” and he “looks forward to showing you how different I am.”
