Taylor Swift is a huge fan of her Kansas City Chiefs tight end boyfriend, Travis Kelce, but it seems she’s now also cheering for another pro-athlete — Indiana Fever basketball star Caitlin Clark.
Clark, 22, reveals that when she recently attended back-to-back Eras Tour shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, she had the opportunity to sit in a suite and meet not only Swift’s mother, Andrea, but also the singer’s NFL boyfriend.
“I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite,” Clark, in an interview with Time, reveals about excited fans focusing their attention on her instead of the stage.
It turns out Swift might have been just as star struck as concertgoers. According to Clark, who was just named the publication’s 2024 Athlete of the Year, she received a special memento from the 14-time Grammy Award winner after the experience: four bags of Eras Tour swag.
Among the gifts was a personal note from 34-year-old Swift, who expressed admiration for the women’s basketball star’s “inspiring” performance on the court. The “Lover” singer also gushed that now that her nearly two-year tour was ending, she was excited to go with “Trav” to watch Clark play.
The entertainer then extended a personal invitation to the WNBA Rookie of the Year to accompany her to a Chiefs game in Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, where she’s often spotted rooting for Kelce, 35, with his family, the other wives and girlfriends of his teammates as well as her famous friends like Blake Lively and Sophie Turner.
For Clark, gaining Swift as a new friend and fan comes with the territory and highlights her growing impact on and off the court. “I’ve been able to captivate so many people that have never watched women’s sports, let alone women’s basketball, and turn them into fans,” she says.
