Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Will Smith is not mincing words for anyone who thinks he might have been involved in the sex crimes that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is being accused of. The Academy Award Winner, 56, spoke about the rapper during a show at The Observatory North Park in San Diego on Thursday, December 12.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star began by saying he’d seen memes that implied he’d been involved in the 55-year-old Diddy’s alleged sex trafficking schemes and “freak-offs.” In fact, he said, “Some of [the memes are] funny, some of it’s funny.” But he didn’t want to leave any room for interpretation.

“I just wanna say this very clearly,” he explained to his audience in video captured by TMZ. “I don’t have sh**t to do with Puffy,” he said, citing one of Combs’ previous monikers and asking his audience to stop making the memes. “Stop all of that bulls**t,” he said, adding, “I ain’t been nowhere near no damn ‘freak off.'” He also made a joke referring to the baby oil that was discovered in a raid of Diddy’s home, saying that he doesn’t “like baby oil.”

Smith, who faced controversy in 2022 for slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards on the same night that he won his Oscar for King Richard, acknowledged that he is not without his own scandals. “Listen, I do enough of my own sh**t, don’t be putting me in other people’s bullsh**t,” he said, adding, “I ain’t been nowhere near that man, ain’t did none of that stupid sh**t.”

Smith’s statement comes amidst a sea of accusations that have been filed against Diddy. Charges that were filed on Sunday, December 8 alleging that Diddy and rapper Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, were both involved in the rape of an underage boy and girl at a party back in 2000. Carter, 55, has vehemently denied the allegations. A statement by his legal team read, “Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
