Kim Kardashian revealed in an Instagram Story on Friday, December 6 that she had broken her foot, just in time “for the holidays.” At the time, the 44-year-old didn’t mention that it was also just in time for the grand opening of a flagship store for SKIMS, her shapewear and apparel brand.

Still, the reality star wasn’t about to let an injury get in the way of her big moment as the Manhattan store opened its doors for the first time. She rolled into the grand opening on 5th Avenue on a scooter, wearing a tan leather bustier with a plunging neckline and matching pants. Perhaps most remarkably, the former Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was wearing white heeled shoes on both feet, even the broken one. The origin of the injury remains a mystery to her fans.

The opening of the SKIMS flagship star was a star-studded success, with a cavalcade of famous friends in attendance. Among the celebs in attendance were Cardi B, Ice Spice, and Paris Hilton, all of whom were wearing variations on leopard or cheetah print looks. Other notable guests include Ciara, who went bold with black furry boots and angular sunglasses, pop star Meghan Trainor, and country-pop singer Kelsea Ballerini.

SKIMS was founded in 2019 and has been a meteoric success, with fans praising its inclusion of a wide variety of skin tones and sizes. Kardashian took to Instagram on Thursday, December 12 to celebrate the opening of the massive new storefront. “The SKIMS New York City Flagship is now open. Discover three levels of signature and limited edition styles at our iconic 5th Avenue location,” she wrote in the caption. One commenter praised the aesthetic of the store, writing, “This is awesome love the bodies of these mannequins are realistic.” Hilton, 44, a long-time friend of Kardashian’s, commented, “Such an iconic location!😍So proud of you sis🥰🫶.”
