Benny Blanco Says He Lost Weight Eating Almost Nothing but Pizza for 5 Days

Benny Blanco may have just created the most unexpected diet experiment of the summer.

Forget salads. Forget green juice. Forget spending hours trying to figure out what you’re “allowed” to eat.

Benny Blanco decided to test something much more fun — and much more ridiculous.

The music producer spent five straight days eating pizza as part of an experiment to see whether he could actually lose weight while eating the food most diets would tell you to avoid.

And somehow, he says it worked.

Blanco, 38, documented the entire experiment on TikTok, explaining that he wanted to prove that you could lose weight while eating “literally anything.” He started the challenge at around 152 pounds and chose a large thin-crust cheese pizza from Domino’s as his main food for the experiment.

By the end of the five days, his scale showed 147.5 pounds.

That meant a reported 4.7-pound drop.

Naturally, the internet had questions.

It started with pizza. A lot of pizza.

On the first day, Blanco explained that one slice represented only a fraction of the food he planned to eat that day.

But things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

At one point, he returned to work and discovered that someone had apparently eaten several slices of his precious pizza.

Not exactly ideal when your entire five-day experiment depends on knowing where your next meal is coming from.

Still, Blanco kept going.

And by day three, the novelty had definitely started to wear off.

“I’m tired of pizza,” he admitted in the video, making it clear that even a serious pizza lover can eventually reach their limit.

By day five, he was joking that he didn’t even remember what life was like before pizza.

Even Selena Gomez was there for part of it

The experiment also followed Blanco into his everyday life.

At one point, he went out with his wife, Selena Gomez, to the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles.

While Gomez enjoyed her own meal, Blanco stuck to the challenge — even bringing his pizza along.

It’s the kind of moment that makes the whole story feel less like a traditional diet and more like something only Benny Blanco would actually do.

The couple have become known for sharing their love of food and cooking, so Blanco turning pizza into a five-day personal experiment feels very on brand.

So… did it actually work?

According to Blanco’s final weigh-in, yes.

He ended the challenge at 147.5 pounds, down from his starting weight, and proudly announced that he had lost 4.7 pounds in five days while eating only pizza.

But there’s an important catch.

Blanco’s experiment shouldn’t be mistaken for a recommended weight-loss plan.

Losing weight isn’t simply about whether a particular food is “good” or “bad.” Overall calorie intake, activity, hydration and many other factors can affect changes on the scale, and a five-day experiment doesn’t prove that eating only pizza is a healthy or sustainable approach.

Blanco himself presented the challenge as an experiment rather than a medical recommendation.

And judging from his own reactions throughout the week, he probably wasn’t planning to make pizza his only food forever.

Benny Blanco’s bigger message

There’s also a reason Blanco chose to share the experiment right now.

He’s currently promoting his upcoming book, F** Failure*, which focuses on embracing failure rather than being afraid of it. The pizza challenge fits neatly into that message: try something strange, see what happens and don’t be afraid if the experiment doesn’t go perfectly.

In this case, the experiment gave him a result he clearly wasn’t expecting.

Nearly five pounds down.

Five days of pizza.

And an internet full of people wondering whether Benny Blanco has somehow discovered the world’s strangest diet.

One thing is certain: he definitely knows how to get people talking.

And considering how much Blanco and Selena Gomez love food, we’re guessing this isn’t the last unusual food experiment we’ll see from the couple.

Would you ever try eating only pizza for five days? Or would you be completely sick of it by day two?
