Actress Sarah Paulson says the secret to a long-lasting relationship is having separate houses. She has been in a relationship with actress Holland Taylor since 2015, and on the “Smartless” podcast, Sarah revealed previously unknown details about their relationship.
We don’t live together; that’s a bit of a secret. Holland Taylor and I spend a lot of time together, but we don’t live in the same house. We’ve been together for a long time, and I think part of the success lies in that—we spend time together only when we want to, and when we don’t, we don’t,” Sarah Paulson shared.

When asked if she would like separate bedrooms if they lived in the same house, Sarah replied:

“We love to fall asleep holding hands. I love sleeping next to her. I just don’t want to be with her all the time. I’m kidding,” she clarified with a laugh.

Sarah and Holland Taylor often made headlines due to their 32-year age difference. Taylor celebrated her 81st birthday in January, while Sarah is 49. It is known that Taylor, who gained fame for her role as “the man-eater” Evelyn Harper on “Two and a Half Men,” had no long relationships before Sarah, and this is Sarah’s third relationship lasting over five years.

“I tend to have more experience, and Holland doesn’t. So, her life, and coming to her age after not having lived with someone for a long time, having me and all my needs in her space, I think it would be a lot all at once for her,” she concluded.

In January, Taylor told “Variety” that she couldn’t even imagine sharing the same space with her partner.

“I don’t like couples who do everything together,” she said.

Sarah once said that while some might see their relationship as unconventional from the outside, it’s not something that worries her.

“I didn’t choose who I’d fall in love with. But I think I know why it’s interesting to people because on paper it all looks unconventional. For someone who finds themselves in this situation and fears being judged or misperceived, seeing me live my life in a way that’s authentic to me, just trying to be as real as possible, if it inspires someone, it can’t be a bad thing,” she explained to Elle magazine in 2018, as reported by Story.
