Andrew Garfield felt “disappointed” after not getting the lead role on Frankenstein.
In an interview, the Spider-Man actor admitted he had a few regrets about missing out on playing Frankenstein’s monster, a role which would have been one of the biggest of his career.
“I was just with Jacob Elordi in Marrakesh who ended up playing the character of the creature,” Garfield told Deadline, “so I was hearing about how amazing and satisfying that was for him. So I’m very glad that it was him doing it. And of course, disappointed that I didn’t get to do it, because I love Guillermo, and I love Oscar and everyone that he assembled. So I was disappointed.”
Despite Garfield’s disappointment, however, the actor says he’s happy Elordi got the part, mentioning that it came at the right time for the Saltburn actor in his career.
“Meeting Jacob Elordi felt serendipitous,” Garfield continued, “so that I could really see and hear that he maybe needed that experience more than me. So that was cool to feel that he had a really kind of spectacular time on that job.”
