Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Exude Mother-Daughter Love In ‘Lion King’ Behind The Scenes Clip
|It takes a lot of courage to delve head-first into a new venture, but it makes it a whole lot easier when your mother is right by your side. Blue Ivy Carter’s latest line added to her résumé is voice acting, as she recently completed her role as Kiara in the upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King film. Beyoncé was there for her every step of the way, and the two have shared a sweet behind the scenes video about the rewarding process.
The “Crazy In Love” singer starts off The Good Morning America clip in full-on mommy mode, with Blue telling her to stop staring at her and Bey responding, “I can’t help it. You’re just too beautiful, girl.” Blue added, “If I told my younger self that I was in a movie, I’d never believe myself,” to which the mother of three swiftly replied, “Well, you are, girl!”
The Cowboy Carter artist even got emotional while reflecting on her eldest daughter’s newest accomplishment, saying, “Seeing Blue as Kiara and hearing her voice come out of that character — give me a second because I still can’t believe that’s my baby.” Midway through the video, her younger daughter Rumi also makes an adorable cameo. The 12-year-old shared more details about working on the film, confirming it was a smooth and encouraging process all around. “It’s just a really amazing experience. The director Barry [Jenkins], he’s a really sweet person and he tells me ways that I can improve in my lines and he’s very supportive of me and tells me in the nicest way possible. So does everybody else. This is just a great experience for me and I’m just really happy for girls that look like me all around the world who are able to watch this movie and hear and see themselves in it,” she said.
“She did such a beautiful job and I cant believe how natural she is,” Bey gushed. “I’m just so proud of you and I cant believe how big and grown up you are. She’s gonna represent so many young brown girls around the world. Nobody’s prouder than mommy.”
Mufasa: The Lion King is set to debut in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, the animated film serves as both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of the 1994 film The Lion King. Per the synopsis, the movie will consist of Rafiki the mandrill telling “the origin story of two lions, Mufasa and Taka, to Kiara—the granddaughter of Mufasa and daughter of Simba and Nala. The story follows the orphan Mufasa, who is befriended by the young prince Taka and adopted by Taka’s family; the pair become as close as brothers.”
This isn’t the first time Beyoncé was able to witness her daughter’s work ethic and talent up close, as Blue joined her mother for several dates on the legendary RENAISSANCE World Tour last year.
She quickly became a highlight of the legendary trek, as fans anxiously waited her arrival on “My Power” every night. Check out their perfected mother-daughter performance below and The Lion King trailer above.
