Bill Skarsgård’s Count Orlok Voice Revealed in New Clip From Nosferatu
|Nosferatu was called “one of the year’s finest films” in its first reviews, and the more we see of it, the easier it is to understand why.
Lily-Rose Depp captivated us in a new clip, which surfaced a couple of weeks ago, and there is now a new look at Robert Eggers’ passion project revealing Bill Skarsgård’s Count Orlok voice – a detail which has remained a mystery until now.
The film’s approach to marketing has been to keep Skarsgård’s Count Orlok an enigma, never showing him in trailers or photos, leaving everyone in anticipation for the grant reveal when the film hits theaters on Christmas Day.
That is, until now.
Nicholas Hoult appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, and a clip played before his interview, which shows Hoult in action as Thomas Hutter as Count Orlok’s voice booms through a candlelit room who warns Hutter, “You will obey this, my counsel.”
It’s less than 30 seconds long, but it’s a chilling preview of what’s to come from all involved with the movie that critics have given a Certified Fresh score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Robert Eggers, the director, is such a phenomenal filmmaker,” Hoult told Kimmel. “All of his movies I’ve adored, and the performances in them, I think they’re so special.”
Hoult also recalls getting frightened by the movie despite having seen it before.
“I watched it the other night. There was a premiere in Berlin, and I jumped so embarrassingly,” says Hoult. “I’ve seen it before. I know what’s happening.”
Starring alongside Hoult and Skarsgård are Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney, making up director Robert Eggers’ ensemble.
Eggers also wrote the screenplay and serves as a producer on the project.
