Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 Patch Notes – Car and Character Customization, Photo Mode Upgrades, and More
|CD Projekt Red has released a new update for Cyberpunk 2077, surprising fans with dozens of new customization options for their character builds and cars. There are also new additions to the photo mode, and you’ll enjoy Johnny Silverhand’s (Keanu Reeves) company frequently while riding through Night City.
All that and hundreds of new secrets await in Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.2, now available to download on PC and consoles. Here are the biggest changes coming to Cyberpunk in patch 2.2 this week.
New Character Customization Options
CD Projekt Red faced a lot of criticism for the lack of meaningful character customization options in Cyberpunk. Four years after its launch, the game is finally adding more ways to change how your character looks, including dozens of eye colors, makeup options, tattoos, and cyberware additions. You can also create a randomized character with a “Plain-to-Punk” slider.
Ten New Cars
There are ten new cars to purchase in Night City, with two of them only available for those who own the Phantom Liberty expansion. The list includes highly requested vehicles like the Mizutani Shion Targa MZT, the Villefort Deleon V410-S, and the Quadra Type del 66 680 TS. You can buy these cars from the Autofixer terminals scattered throughout the city.
Give Any Car a Paint Job with CrystalCoat
Previously, you could only change the paint job of your car if it was a specific model from Rayfield. The new CrystalCoat option in the car menu allows you to customize Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra, and Villefort vehicles with colors of your choice. You can also use the feature to fool the NCPD when you’re being chased by them.
Steal Any Car’s Paint Job with TwinTone
If you can’t find the colors and style of a car you see in Night City to adapt to your vehicle with CrystalCoat, why not just steal it? The TwinTone menu will let you borrow the paint job of any car you see on the road, though it will require a small fee every time you use it.
Enjoy Johnny Silverhand’s Company While Driving
V can spend more time with Johnny now. When specific conditions are met, Johnny will show up in person beside V when driving a car in Night City. The developers stated that the chances of this happening are around 25%, as the effect won’t trigger during main quests and during combat. Johnny also has new lines and interactions when he appears in the passenger seat.
Photo Mode Updates
Virtual photographers rejoice as many new upgrades are coming to the photo mode. This includes turning the drone camera mode into a truly free camera, adding aspect ratio options, spawning NPCs, new lights, and more.
New Screenshot Gallery
What will you do with all those beautiful shots you’ve taken in the game? Upload them to social media, of course. But trying to find the perfect photo out of hundreds can take time. That’s where the new photo gallery will come in handy. You can select favorites and also filter them. Photos taken before update 2.2 will also show up in the gallery for PC and PS5 players.
Use SmartFrame to Hang Photo Mode Shots in V’s Apartment
The new SmartFrame feature lets you display photo mode captures physically in V’s apartments. This will help decorate your apartments and add more personality to them by using images from your playthrough.
PC Performance Improvements for Intel Users
Those playing the game on PCs with Intel Arrow Lake-based CPUs, i.e. the latest Core Ultra series, can expect performance improvements of up to 33%. This will be helpful for new players who are planning to build all-Intel gaming PCs using the Core Ultra CPUs and the upcoming Intel Arc B-series graphics cards.
