Pioner is an upcoming first-person survival MMO from GFA Games, set in a dark post-apocalyptic setting. The game was originally set to be released in 2022, but following multiple delays has finally settled on a 2025 release. GFA Games has released a new trailer that shows off its PvP and PvE combat and plenty of monsters.
The game is set on Tartarus, an eerie island with Soviet-era structures, spanning over 50 square kilometers. It’s a big game, but GFA Games isn’t taking any shortcuts to make it feel smaller. Pioner is forgoing gameplay mechanics like health bars or character levels for a realistic atmosphere.
While Pioner will include multiplayer components, there’s also a story campaign with hardcore survival and crafting mechanics, along with mini-games like fishing. On the multiplayer front, Pioneer will also include an extraction shooter mode called “Shadowlands”, where players can fight monsters and other players to capture the loot.
Overall, Pioneer looks like it is combining gameplay elements of popular online games like Destiny and Fallout 76. You can sign up for the official beta testing on its website.
Pioner will be released on PC via Steam in 2025.
