Jana Duggar’s bachelorette weekend took an unexpected turn – but it was still one to remember.
The 19 Kids and Counting alum, who married Stephen Wissmann three months ago, gave fans a peek into her surprisingly wild bachelorette party in Santa Barbara, California, in a YouTube vlog shared on Wednesday, November 27.
As the group was rushing to catch their flight – 34-year-old Jana in the driver’s seat – their van got pulled over by police on the way to the airport for speeding. “You were going over the speed limit when you passed me,” the officer revealed, before continuing, “I clocked you with my radar and confirmed.” It appeared the officer let Jana go without a fuss, and said, “I won’t hold you up any longer, ok?”
As seen in the video, Jana was joined by her sisters Jessa Seewald, Joy-Anna Forsyth, Jinger Vuolo, Josie Duggar, sister-in-law Abby Duggar, plus some others for the getaway weekend. Mom Michelle Duggar was also in attendance – a rare occurrence of late since she’s largely kept out of the spotlight since her son Josh Duggar’s 2022 arrest.
Once they arrived in Santa Barbara, Jana and her sisters spent time at Jinger’s home with their nieces and nephews before heading to their rental property with breathtaking mountain views. Jana described the space as “gorgeous.”
Their peaceful trip didn’t last for long as Michelle, 58, stepped into hero mode as the family was spending a night out on the town. “A guy stole somebody’s wallet,” Jana explained to the camera, “so Mama Bear chased him down and told him to give it back.” The family joked that the thief’s “mama would not be pleased,” and showed Michelle off in the distance talking to police about the situation.
Despite the eventful weekend, Jana said she couldn’t have been happier with the experience, concluding, “Had a fun time in California. Next thing up: the wedding.”
Jana’s wedding to Wissmann took place in August, with 500 guests in attendance. The wedding was a long time coming for the Duggar’s eldest daughter, who, unlike many of her sisters, waited until she was in her 30s to tie the knot.
