Mom of Three Leaves Newborn to Use Bathroom—Tears at What She Comes Back to
|A girl from Illinois has melted hearts online for what she was found doing with her baby sister.
Yenn Stanley asked her 15-year-old son to watch Cailey and his baby sister, Sky, while she went to the bathroom—and she wasn’t prepared for what she came back to. In a heartwarming clip on TikTok posted on November 23, four-year-old Cailey is sitting on the couch with Sky in her arms.
The mom of three told Newsweek that when she’d left the room, Cailey was on her iPad and her eldest was on his phone. “When I came back, I freaked out because she was already holding the baby, and their brother didn’t notice that Cailey picked their baby sister up,” she said.
When her mom asked her why she picked her up, Cailey answered sweetly: “Because I wanna just hold her.” At just 12 days old, Sky opened her eyes, Cailey spotted her looking up at her and hugged her tightly. “I always wanted a baby sister,” Cailey tells her mom.
Stanley told Newsweek that she was nervous and scared at first, but allowed her daughter to hold her newborn sister for a few minutes.
“She has been waiting for her for so long [and] been praying for a baby sibling,” she said.
Stanley’s clip has clocked up almost 1.5 million views since it was posted four days ago. Over a thousand TikTok users commented on the post, many of whom were fellow moms who understood Stanley’s initial fear.
“This is adorable but I felt how nervous you were,” one wrote, meanwhile another commented: “Proof that as a mom we can’t even go to the bathroom.”
Many others commented that the sisterly bond was “beautiful,” and congratulated the third-time mom. “They look so comfortable with each other,” one wrote. “Big sisters are the best,” another said.
Towards the end of the clip, it appears Stanley has a hard time getting Sky back from Cailey. When she asked if she could have her back, Cailey replied: “No, because sometimes you hold her, she cries.”
After a reminder to be gentle with the newborn, Stanley says: “Give me my baby” in a deep voice, which makes Cailey chuckle. “She loves her so much. She always reminds me to be careful because the baby’s bones are fragile. She is like a mom to her,” Stanley told Newsweek.
